Met Workplace Extends Yellow Rain Warning for One Extra Day
The Climate Bureau’s climate warning of heavy rain within the northeast has been prolonged for an additional day.
The yellow warning is now in place from 6pm on Tuesday to 12pm on Thursday.
It impacts all areas of the area, together with Newcastle, Gateshead, Northumberland, Sunderland, and County Durham.
The warning reads: “After the earlier heavy snowfall, a interval of heavy rain on Tuesday evening and in a single day till early Wednesday morning will result in a comparatively speedy thaw.
“The mix of rain and melting snow could cause some flooding.
“It’s more likely to rain extra persistent, typically heavy, in a while Wednesday and into Thursday, significantly within the northeast of England and North Yorkshire.”
