Rome mayor, retailers lament closure of Feltrinelli in centre – Way of life

(ANSA) – ROME, MAY 30 – The Mayor of Rome, Roberto Gualtieri, and the retail group Confcommercio lamented on Monday the introduced closure of the historic Felitrinelli bookstore store within the emblematic Galleria Alberto Sordi as an indication of the emptying of the middle of the town to the vacationer traps and mini-Tuesdays.

Gualtieri, a member of the center-left Democratic Occasion (PD), mentioned “Rome’s historic heart is now only a Disneyland of fast getaway tourism and high quality retailers have a tougher time.”

Confcommercio mentioned “the Feltrinelli closure is simply the newest piece in a haemorrhage of downtown retailer closings, which we highlighted some time in the past.” (ANSA).
