Prince William kicked off the embrace with England captain Leah Williamson earlier than presenting her with the trophy after the Euro 2022 last.
The Duke of Cambridge, who’s the president of the Soccer Affiliation, was so excited by England’s win that he hugged Leah and advised her how proud he was of her and her group.
Leah advised the BBC: “I believe I went to shake his hand and he was like, ‘Leah, convey him over,’ and I used to be like, ‘Thanks, sir.’ He was like, ‘I am so happy with all of you.'”
Leah and her fellow Lionesses beat Germany 2-1 to win the 2022 European Girls’s Soccer Championship and the captain revealed she was overwhelmed by a congratulatory message from William’s grandmother, Queen Elizabeth.
She stated: “I am an enormous fan of the royal household so it means rather a lot.”
Following the victory, the Queen stated in a press release: “My honest congratulations, and people of my household, to all of you for successful the European Girls’s Soccer Championship.
“It’s a important achievement for the whole group, together with his help workers. The Championships and his efficiency in them have rightly earned reward. Nevertheless, his success goes far past the trophy he has so deservedly gained.”

In the meantime, Leah, 25, revealed that she remains to be in shock over the win.
