WASHINGTON (WHDH) – A congressional delegation led by Massachusetts Sen. Ed Markey (D) is in Taiwan lower than two weeks after a visit by Home Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the island.
The five-member delegation traveled to debate US-Taiwan and worldwide relations, in addition to safety within the area, with numerous Taiwanese officers, together with President Tsai Ing-wen.
The delegation met with South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol forward of his go to to the area.
Pelosi’s historic journey in early August drew criticism from the Chinese language authorities, which claims Taiwan as a territory and opposes unbiased contact with overseas governments, despite the fact that the island is self-governed by an unbiased authorities. The August 2 journey resulted in elevated Chinese language army exercise within the area.
