NEW MEXICO — Helen Cake Sokoloff, 96, handed away peacefully at her dwelling and was welcomed into Heaven by Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior, on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
Mrs. Sokoloff was born June 12, 1926. She was preceded in dying by her dad and mom, Thomas and Flossie Bell McGeehen of Lisbon, Ohio; her first son “Tommy”, who died in infancy; her first husband, Robert Cake, who was affectionately recognized to Los Alamos residents because the native pharmacist; her brother John McGeehen of Columbiana, Ohio; and by her sister, Violet Bowman of Salem, Ohio.
Helen and Robert Cake have been married of their dwelling state of Ohio and had 4 kids, Janice, Thomas, Daniel “And” and Sharon. Helen lived in Los Alamos for over 61 years, first within the Sundt Flats, then in a home on Alabama Road the place she raised her three kids and at last spent her ultimate years in White Rock.
Helen LOVED being with individuals, sparked many energetic conversations, was very energetic in lots of church buildings through the years, taught Sunday college and sang within the church choir. She loved music and infrequently performed the piano or organ at church and senior occasions. Most church buildings within the space had visits from her, for church providers, riddles, picnics, choir and varied receptions.
Helen and her surviving husband, Richard B. Sokoloff, have been married for 12 years and took part in mission journeys to Mexico, have been members of The Gideons Worldwide outreach program, and Full Gospel Enterprise Males’s Fellowship Worldwide. Helen served missions in Espanola, Santa Fe and different elements of New Mexico. He helped his aged pals by taking them procuring, physician’s appointments, and so forth. For one season, she served as president of the Los Alamos AARP group.
She cherished to stitch and was very artistic. She did not need to throw something away in case she would possibly make a creation out of it later. Helen made garments for her household and earned additional revenue by making clothes alterations for purchasers.
Following her needs, there will probably be no public funeral providers at the moment.
