US vacationer drives automotive onto Ponte Vecchio – Way of life

(ANSA) – ROME, JANUARY 27 – A 34-year-old American vacationer drove a rental automotive in direction of the enduring Ponte Vecchio bridge in Florence on Thursday afternoon, sources mentioned on Friday.

The California man instructed police he had been on the lookout for a parking house and had not realized he was on the medieval bridge.

He was fined for driving in a pedestrian zone and reported for driving with out a world license.

The Ponte Vecchio (“Previous Bridge”) is a medieval stone closed spandrel segmental arch bridge over the River Arno, in Florence, Italy.

The one bridge in Florence that was spared from destruction throughout World Battle II, it’s famous for the outlets constructed alongside it; constructing outlets on such bridges was as soon as a standard apply.

Butchers, tanners, and farmers initially occupied the outlets; the present tenants are jewelers, artwork sellers and memento sellers.
