The Ministry of International Affairs confirmed on Wednesday that the federal government is working to extend cooperation in combating irregular migration and indicated that it interacts in worldwide boards and conferences on this challenge.
The Undersecretary of the Ministry of International Affairs for Political Planning Affairs, Hisham Al-Alawi, advised the Iraqi Information Company (INA): “There aren’t any particular agreements on immigration with the nations, however the Iraqi authorities is working to extend cooperation on this area to fight irregular migration and maintain Iraqi residents overseas in accordance with worldwide devices and worldwide human rights agreements.”
He added, “The federal government interacts in worldwide boards and conferences on the problem of irregular migration particularly and follows developments in immigration legal guidelines around the globe.”
He defined that “the federal government responded urgently to the return of Iraqis stranded on the borders of a number of nations by sending diplomatic groups to challenge journey paperwork and return them to Iraq by working emergency flights by Iraqi Airways.”
He emphasised that “Iraqi embassies responded to the repeated drowning incidents in European nations, which take the lives of dozens of residents, the newest of which was the drowning incident on the Italian seashores, after our embassy in Rome cooperated with the Italian authorities. for the switch of the our bodies of the deceased and the return of the surviving Iraqis to Iraq after the bitter tragedy”.
