PARIS (AP) – Restorers on the fire-damaged Notre Dame de Paris cathedral have accomplished key preliminary work by efficiently eradicating all harmful scaffolding from the roof, authorities stated Tuesday.
The elimination of the 200 tons of scaffolding was deemed harmful, and a few consultants feared it may trigger extra of the Gothic monument to fall. It was thought that the scaffolding may have merged with the cathedral within the fireplace and saved it in place.
When the Notre Dame fireplace broke out on April 15 final 12 months and destroyed the spire, the cathedral was already below restoration.
