JACKSON, Miss. (AP) – A lawyer says in courtroom paperwork that an inmate tried to hold himself in a troubled Mississippi jail and was arrested by a state agent. Casey L. Austin is likely one of the attorneys representing the inmates in a lawsuit in opposition to Mississippi for jail situations. Inmates' lawsuit is funded by Group Roc, a philanthropic group associated to the corporate of leisure mogul Jay-Z, Roc Nation. Austin stated in paperwork filed on Saturday that he was in Parchman jail on Friday to interview inmates. He stated he heard a soldier say he had simply shot down an inmate who tried to hold himself. A spokeswoman for the Division of Corrections says the division is investigating.
