Architect and designer Manu Bañó explores the reflective qualities of copper together with his OBJ-08 mirrors, launched as a part of the Distinctive Design X truthful at Mexico Metropolis Artwork Week.
Produced by hammering, shaping and sprucing a skinny sheet of copper, the Bañó assortment consists fully of 1 materials, with out the necessity for varnishes, coatings or adhesives.
“The concept, as in all of the items in my assortment, is to alter the form of a sheet of steel with a repeated motion – on this case, hammering and sprucing by hand,” Bañó informed Dezeen.

The OBJ-08 assortment contains two items – the Wall Mirror and the Ground Mirror – every composed of two symmetrical items which can be designed to be displayed as a duo.
The wall mirror has a tarnished copper floor and consists of two round sheets of copper, one concave and the opposite convex.
Matching in texture, the ground mirror has a freestanding rectangular body with similar notches on two sides which can be polished to a excessive shine.
Made by artisans in Mexico, the items are produced by hammering heated copper sheets onto a mould to control them into the specified form.
As soon as formed, the remaining flat space is polished till a reflective floor is obtained.
Hammered particulars add texture to the items, contrasting with their polished and mirrored facilities.
