Cj Hendry’s ‘Pastel’ Transforms Gallery into Interactive Art Playground

In a vibrant fusion of whimsy and artistry, Cj Hendry presents her latest installation, ‘Pastel,’ at Salon 94 Design in New York City, running from August 6 to 16. This immersive experience features nearly a million pastel beads, inviting visitors to dive into a pool-like pit filled with playful objects like unicorns and sneakers.

Inspired by the beading room at Space Club in Brooklyn, Hendry aimed to recreate that tactile joy for everyone. She explains, “All of my exhibitions have a childlike, play element to them,” reflecting her desire to connect with audiences in a unique way.

Visitors can don Cj Hendry-branded socks and wade through the beads, crafting personalized jewelry or simply collecting souvenirs for just $1 each. Hendry humorously notes, “I bet Salon 94 has never sold art for a dollar.” This installation, blending her Instagram fame with traditional gallery spaces, challenges the norms of the art world.

Beyond the bead pit, guests can also admire Hendry’s renowned photorealistic drawings and sculptures on the gallery’s upper floor. Pastel promises to be an engaging experience for art enthusiasts of all ages.
