Among the many successful pictures of the Shut-up Photographer of the 12 months competitors, frilled slime mildew emerges from leaves, elegant bugs unfold their colourful wings, and microscopic patterns create vivid abstractions. Now in its fourth 12 months, the competitors has caught on over 9,000 entries from 54 nations.

The general winner of this 12 months’s competitors was captured by Samantha Stephens and spots two small amphibians trapped inside a carnivorous plant. She explains, “Sometimes, these crops feast on invertebrates resembling moths and flies, however not too long ago, researchers on the Algonquin Wildlife Analysis Station found a stunning new merchandise on the plant’s menu: juvenile noticed salamanders (Ambystoma maculatum).” It was a well timed catch; by the subsequent day the creatures had sunk to the underside of the jug.
