In February, the Beverly Theater Guild (BTG) will current “Current Laughter,” a comedy by famed English playwright Noel Coward.
Reveals will probably be offered February 16 and 17 at 7:30 pm and Sunday, February 18 at 2 pm at Morgan Park Academy’s Baer Theater, 2153 W. 111th St.
Coward was an English playwright, composer, director, actor, producer and singer identified for his wit, flamboyance and what Time journal known as his “sense of non-public fashion, a mixture of sass and magnificence, pose and poise.” These phrases earned Coward the nickname “The Grasp.”
His 125th birthday will probably be celebrated in 2024, and lots of theater teams will carry out a few of his most well-known and beloved works throughout the milestone.
“Current Laughter” tells the story of some days within the lifetime of Garry Essendine, a self-infatuated matinee idol approaching center age. The intertwined relationships between the characters (together with his spouse, girlfriend, secretary, supervisor, a younger playwright who adores him, and others) have entertained audiences since Coward wrote the play in 1939.
Within the lead function of Garry is Beverly’s Sean Henry. Garry’s ex-wife Liz will probably be performed by Oak Garden’s Gina Lutvi, and the function of his loyal secretary Monica will probably be performed by Oak Garden’s Jenny Hogan.
Solid members embrace the abilities of Joseph Adlesick, Oak Garden’s Sherry Anton, Blue Island’s Tony Carsella, Gabriel Delli, Josie Ellis, Evergreen Park’s Betty Kort, Beverly’s Meg Massaro and Emmanuel Suarez.
“Current Laughter” is directed by Beverly resident Glenn Hering and assisted by Morgan Park’s Gail Lauryn. The present is co-produced by Oak Garden’s Tanya Harasym and Alsip’s Margaret Pesquera.
Grownup tickets are $25; Lively US army personnel, seniors, and BTG members are $23, and college students beneath 13 are $18.
