Akshay Kumar bagged the primary place within the fifth version of the Each day World Marathon on Sunday. The circuit began from the Capitol Advanced. The marathon and half marathon programs went as much as IT Park.
Akshay clocked 2.22.33 seconds to win the 42.19 km males's race. Kenyan marathoner Daniel Cheruiyot (2.28.38 seconds) completed second, whereas Ajay Kumar (2.29.44 seconds) gained bronze.
Bhagirathi clocked three.06.23 seconds to clinch the primary place within the ladies's class. Brigid Jerono Kimitwai of Kenya (three.09.26 seconds) completed second and Svati Pal took third place with a time of 03.24.27 seconds.
Greater than 5,000 operating fanatics from throughout India and the world celebrated the marathon.
Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Banwarilal Purohit was the chief visitor and flagged off the 5km run.
There was a 21.09 km half marathon, 10 km timed run and 5 km enjoyable run to advertise health and a wholesome life-style.
Each day World newspaper in affiliation with UT administration and municipal company organized the marathon. The race had a complete money prize of $10 lakh.
Governor's Further Secretary Ok Siva Prasad flagged off the complete marathon whereas Chandigarh Inspector Normal (IG) Raj Kumar Singh, flanked by Superintendent of Police Kanwardeep Kaur, flagged off the 21 km run. Punjab Director Normal of Police (Coaching and Welfare) Ishwar Singh together with Punjab IG Headquarters Sukhchain Singh Gill flagged off the 10 km run.
Asian marathon champion and India's elite marathon runner coordinator Sunita Godara was the race director whereas marathon runner Gaurav Karjee was the race coordinator on the fifth version of the Each day World Marathon.
