The Louisiana State Police is asking drivers to keep away from pointless journey in northern and central Louisiana as a second winter system strikes into the state.
On Wednesday, February 16, state police closed a number of highways because of winter climate circumstances.
The Louisiana Division of Transportation and Improvement (DOTD) and the Louisiana State Police (LSP) have closed I-20 Eastbound from Exit 23 (the Industrial Drive exit) to Exit 38 (the Goodwill Street exit in Bossier and Webster parishes). from I-20 East to US 80.
Cops say I-20 will stay closed till journey circumstances enhance.
“Roads by Louisiana, particularly parts of central and northern Louisiana, stay very impassable and harmful for vehicular site visitors,” reads a state police message. “These are unprecedented occasions and we’d like the assistance and cooperation of the communities.”
In Acadiana, I-10 from I-49 in Lafayette to Baton Rouge stays closed because of ice.
