Baz Luhrmann has credited Elvis Presley’s “tacky” films with inspiring his directing model.
The filmmaker’s newest undertaking is a big-screen biopic of the music icon, with Austin Butler within the title position, and Baz has spoken about his love for Elvis’ Hollywood profession, which included movies like ‘Love Me Tender’. ‘ from 1953, ‘Blue Hawaii’ and ‘Viva Las Vegas’ from 1964.
Baz revealed that he was an enormous fan of Elvis films rising up in Australia, telling Who journal: “After we had cinema, my desire for Elvis was most likely all of the tacky films that I believed had been nice works, and I am beginning to notice that is most likely why my films seem like this.”
The director admits that, regardless of being an enormous Elvis fan in his youth, his musical tastes veered later in life earlier than he returned to El Rey.
