Allman Brothers Band guitarist and founding member Dickey Betts has died, Fox Information Digital can affirm. The musician was 80 years previous when he died on Thursday, April 18.
“It’s with deep unhappiness and heavy hearts that the Betts household broadcasts the peaceable passing of Forrest Richard 'Dickey' Betts,” Betts' supervisor David Spero stated in a press release to Fox Information Digital.

“The legendary performer, songwriter, bandleader and household patriarch was at residence in Osprey, Florida, surrounded by his household. Dickey was bigger than life and his loss can be felt around the globe. At this troublesome time “The household asks for prayers and respect for his or her privateness. Shaped in Jacksonville, Florida in 1969, the Allman Brothers had been a well-liked rock band with hits similar to “Ramblin' Man” and “Blue Sky.” Unique members included brothers Duane and Gregg Allman, in addition to Berry Oakley, Butch Vans Jai Johanny “Jaimoe” Johnson and Betts.
