Windows 11 Gets a Revamped Start Menu for Testers

Microsoft has rolled out a refreshed Start menu for Windows 11 testers, featuring a more spacious and customizable interface. This update introduces a scrollable design alongside two new viewing options.

The Windows Insider team stated, “We’re making it easier for you to launch your apps with our updated, scrollable Start menu.” Users will find all their apps readily accessible on the main screen, eliminating the need to navigate through multiple pages.

Additionally, testers can now turn off the recommended section to prioritize app visibility. The two viewing modes, category and grid, enhance user experience by either grouping apps or listing them alphabetically. The size of the Start menu adjusts according to device screen dimensions, with larger displays showcasing up to eight columns of pinned apps.

Moreover, this build introduces a mobile device button for the Phone Link interface and a Gamepad keyboard feature for easier sign-in on gaming devices. These enhancements underscore Microsoft’s commitment to refining the Windows 11 experience.
