Vietnam and Estonia Unite for Digital Growth

In a significant move towards digital collaboration, Vietnam and Estonia have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at advancing their technological capabilities. The agreement, formalized on June 6, 2025, in Tallinn, was witnessed by both countries' prime ministers, Pham Minh Chinh and Kristen Michal.
The signing followed a productive bilateral meeting where Vietnam's Minister of Science and Technology, Nguyen Manh Hung, and Estonia’s Minister of Education and Research, Kristina Kallas, explored ways to enhance cooperation in education and ICT development.
During a Vietnam–Estonia business forum, PM Chinh highlighted Vietnam’s strategic goals, including a push for over 8% GDP growth by 2025. He urged businesses from both nations to foster deeper ties and collaborate on innovative projects, especially in digital transformation and sustainable practices.
Despite the promising outlook, participants acknowledged that bilateral trade remains limited, standing at just $73.8 million in 2024. Currently, 35 Estonian enterprises operate in Vietnam, with a modest direct investment portfolio.
Looking ahead, both nations are committed to leveraging their strengths—Vietnam’s robust economic growth and Estonia’s leadership in digital innovation—to enhance bilateral relations and act as gateways to their respective regions.
