Ben Sledsens Explores Color and Pattern in New Exhibition

Artist Ben Sledsens showcases his latest series, "An Apple for the Road," where vibrant colors collide with intricate patterns inspired by nature. The Antwerp native crafts intimate scenes, such as a swan reflecting on water and a woman stepping out her door, inviting viewers to pause and reflect.

Sledsens begins his creative process on paper, translating essential details to canvas, which results in layered motifs depicting willow trees and tiled docks. His oil and acrylic works, such as "Lily in the Blue Pond" and "Evening Light," feature a soft, dusky ambiance that enhances the reflective moments he captures.

On display at Tim Van Laere Gallery from September 3 to October 10, Sledsens' artwork prompts contemplation about our fleeting experiences and the details that often elude us.
