Billy Bob Thornton recently shared his thoughts on how Texas has embraced Taylor Sheridan, contrasting it with his experiences in Hollywood. In an interview with Town & Country, Thornton remarked, “Hollywood wasn’t nice to Taylor. There’s something about being an outsider that drives you.”
Before his ascent as a successful creator of popular series like Yellowstone and Mayor of Kingstown, Sheridan faced hardships in Los Angeles, including homelessness. He recounted, “I was homeless twice. I lived in my car… for six months.” Despite these obstacles, Sheridan remained determined to pursue his dreams, eventually transitioning from acting to screenwriting, which proved transformative.
His breakthrough came with the pilot for Mayor of Kingstown, leading to opportunities across major networks. After achieving success, he returned to Texas, where he now owns over 250,000 acres of ranchland, including the famed Four Sixes Ranch. Thornton emphasized that the Texas ranch community fully accepted Sheridan, noting his genuine connection to the lifestyle.
Living in Texas has not only offered Sheridan inspiration but also enriched his storytelling, allowing him to draw from real-life experiences. “Here, I get to experience so much,” he said, reflecting on the wealth of dialogue and stories surrounding him.
