Carlos Sainz Extends His Commitment to Williams F1 Team

Carlos Sainz has signed a multiyear contract extension with the Williams Formula 1 team, solidifying his role just a day after teammate Alex Albon made a similar commitment. The financial details of the deal remain undisclosed.

The 31-year-old Spanish driver expressed enthusiasm about continuing his journey with Williams, stating, “I’m thrilled to announce my continued journey with the Atlassian Williams F1 Team family.” Sainz, who joined the team in 2025 after leaving Ferrari, is determined to help the team improve its current standing, having finished ninth in 2025 but now sitting 15th after 11 races in 2026.

Looking ahead to the upcoming Dutch Grand Prix, Sainz remarked, “We have what it takes to turn this around together.” Team principal James Vowles praised Sainz’s talent and dedication, emphasizing his importance as a leader within the team. Vowles noted that Sainz's commitment to performance enhancement makes Williams a strong contender in the competitive F1 landscape.
