Chris Hansen, known for his role in To Catch a Predator, left an early screening of the film Primetime starring Robert Pattinson, claiming he was asked to relinquish his rights. During an appearance on Fox News' Jesse Watters Primetime, Hansen expressed his reluctance to sign a document that would give A24 control over his name and brand.
"I couldn't sign that, so they didn’t show me the film," Hansen said, describing the agreement as unusually restrictive. He had traveled to A24's office for the viewing but walked away empty-handed after refusing to comply with the demands.
While Hansen's lawyers had reviewed a standard Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) prior to the screening, he questioned the necessity of such conditions, noting other viewers had attended without signing. He remarked, “If you look at the trailer, obviously it’s a very dramatized version,” but hesitated to comment further without seeing the film.
Directed by Lance Oppenheim, Primetime, which also features Merritt Wever and Phoebe Bridgers, explores the media sensationalism surrounding Hansen's past work, scheduled to premiere on September 25.
