“I’ve basically been stalking Macon for the past ten years in trying to collaborate with him,” Franco joked. His persistence paid off, as 'The Shitheads' found funding in 2025, leading to a production location in Georgia, and Franco played a key role in the casting process, suggesting O’Shea Jackson Jr. for the role of Davis and Mason Thames for the character of Sheridan.

In a shocking twist, the film's title was changed to 'Idiots,' not just for promotional reasons, but to capture the essence of the comedy. Franco teased that the film contains a notable scene where Sheridan spikes drinks, resulting in a chaotic and hilarious moment that he ranks among the top cinematic toilet scenes, alongside Jeff Daniels in 'Dumb and Dumber.' “I just did the craziest thing I’ve ever done on camera,” Franco recounted, reflecting on the wild scene that he believes will leave audiences buzzing.
