De Minaur's Cincinnati Exit Costs Him Top US Open Seed

Alex de Minaur’s hopes for a coveted top-four seed at the US Open have taken a hit following his exit in the fourth round of the Cincinnati Masters. The Australian tennis star fell to France's Arthur Fils, losing in straight sets 6-3, 6-4 in just 82 minutes.

This defeat not only dashed de Minaur's aspirations for a deep tournament run but also means he will be seeded within the top eight at the upcoming US Open, starting August 30. Despite the setback, this seeding will help him avoid facing higher-ranked players until at least the quarterfinals.

Had he advanced further, de Minaur could have entered the top five and avoided heavyweights like Jannik Sinner and Alexander Zverev in the early rounds.
