EEOC's Subpoena Action Against Nike Dismissed by Court

By Editor • August 17, 2026 • 1 min read

A federal court in Missouri has dismissed the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission's (EEOC) enforcement action against Nike Inc., as the sportswear company has complied with the agency's requests for information regarding its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies.

U.S. District Court Judge Cristian Stevens granted the EEOC's request for dismissal last Thursday, specifically relating to a subpoena enforcement filed on February 4. This dismissal indicates that the court found no further issues to resolve, but it does not conclude the EEOC's investigation into Nike.

The inquiry stems from allegations of systemic race discrimination against White employees and job applicants, with claims that Nike maintained race-based workforce representation quotas. A Nike spokesperson expressed surprise at the EEOC's escalation, highlighting the company’s commitment to cooperating with the agency throughout the process.
