Einride Expands Fleet with Major Tesla Semi Order

By Editor • August 18, 2026 • 1 min read

In a significant move for the electric and autonomous trucking sector, Swedish company Einride announced its plan to acquire 500 Tesla Semis, with deployments beginning in September 2023. The electric trucks will be integrated into Einride's fleet over the next two years, enhancing their offerings to clients such as Amazon.

Einride's CEO, Roozbeh Charli, emphasized that this deal demonstrates the company's ability to meet customer demands at scale. As the company manages these new vehicles through its Saga AI fleet management platform, clients can enjoy the benefits of electric transportation without the hassle of ownership.

This deal, while promising, hinges on Tesla's ability to deliver, as the Semi has faced numerous delays since its concept reveal in 2017. It wasn't until April 2026 that Tesla began rolling out the first units of the Semi from its Nevada factory. Despite recent production milestones, Tesla has tempered expectations regarding achieving volume production.

The addition of the Tesla Semis will effectively triple Einride's fleet size and enhance its capabilities across important routes in California, Georgia, New Jersey, and Texas. The company also anticipates that this move could convert around $800 million in potential long-term revenue from partnerships with shippers into actual income.

Founded ten years ago, Einride has been steadily developing its business model, which includes not only electric trucks but also autonomous designs. The company recently struck a deal with Amazon for 75 electric trucks, further solidifying its commitment to scaling its operations and establishing a comprehensive electric freight network.
