Fairphone 6+: A Sustainable Smartphone Built to Last

By Editor • August 19, 2026 • 1 min read

The Fairphone 6+ is making waves in the smartphone market, challenging the conventional upgrade cycle that typically sees users replacing their devices every two to three years. With a price tag of $649.99 in the U.S., this innovative phone is designed not just for today but for a lifespan of eight years, emphasizing longevity and repairability over fleeting trends.

What sets the Fairphone 6+ apart is its impressive repairability. It boasts twelve user-replaceable components, including the battery and display, all easily accessible with just a screwdriver. This focus on sustainability has earned it a perfect 10/10 repairability score from iFixit, and spare parts will be available until 2033, alongside a robust five-year warranty.

While the Fairphone prioritizes durability, it doesn’t skimp on performance. The device is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 processor and features 12GB of RAM. Its 6.31-inch LTPO AMOLED display offers an adaptive refresh rate and brilliant brightness, while the 4,415mAh battery supports fast charging, reaching 50% in just half an hour.

The camera setup is equally impressive, featuring a 50MP main sensor and complementary lenses capable of 4K video recording. Notably, the camera modules are also replaceable, ensuring that wear and tear don’t render the phone obsolete.

In keeping with its eco-friendly ethos, the Fairphone 6+ is constructed from 51% fair or recycled materials. Available in three colors, it aims to redefine value in the smartphone market by promoting a longer lifespan and reduced environmental impact.
