Football Community Honors Fallen Officers in Heartfelt Tribute

In a touching display of solidarity, Middlesbrough FC fans paid tribute to two Cleveland Police constables who tragically lost their lives in a recent A66 crash. Before the home match against West Bromwich Albion, supporters applauded the memory of PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, both killed when a Volkswagen Passat collided with them.

Images of the officers adorned screens at the Riverside Stadium, uniting players and fans in a moment of remembrance. The club issued a statement acknowledging the vital role officers play in community safety, highlighting their dedication in challenging circumstances.

In addition to the fallen officers, the crash claimed the lives of five other individuals, including four young men aged between 17 and 23. Following the incident, Cleveland Police have intensified their efforts against organized crime, leading to 24 arrests. Meanwhile, investigations continue into other serious incidents in the area, including a house fire that resulted in two fatalities.
