Gunther Werks Unveils GXR-Evo: The Ultimate 993 for Racing Enthusiasts

Gunther Werks has redefined the Porsche 911 with its latest model, the GXR-Evo, introduced at Monterey Car Week. This striking vehicle, limited to just 15 units, represents the brand's fastest naturally aspirated offering, merging classic design with modern racing technology.

At first glance, the GXR-Evo retains the iconic 993 silhouette, but a notable modification is the absence of the rear window, now replaced by a sculpted shark fin that enhances its aerodynamic profile. The body is crafted entirely from carbon fiber, resulting in a remarkable dry weight of 2,386 pounds—an impressive reduction of 210 pounds from its coupe counterpart.

Powering the GXR-Evo is a 4.0-liter flat-six engine developed in collaboration with Rothsport Racing, delivering 455 horsepower and capable of revving to nearly 9,000 rpm. This performance is paired with a traditional six-speed manual gearbox, emphasizing Gunther Werks' commitment to maintaining the essence of driving.

The interior transforms the driving experience into something akin to a racetrack. It features a carbon-Kevlar racing seat secured by an eight-point roll cage and six-point harness, replacing conventional safety measures. A bespoke Motec display and a quick-release steering wheel complete the driver-focused cockpit, alongside a helmet cooling system designed for prolonged track sessions.

As a unique bonus, each owner of the GXR-Evo will receive a custom racing simulator that mirrors their vehicle's dynamics. Built from aluminum and wrapped in carbon fiber, this simulator allows drivers to hone their skills before hitting the track.
