In Minab, Iran, the heartache is palpable for Masoumeh Zakeri, who cannot escape the haunting memories of her last night with her 9-year-old daughter, Motahreh. Just before a tragic school strike during the U.S.-Israel conflict, Motahreh eagerly shared her dreams of upcoming holidays and new clothes.
“I never saw her again. (That was) the last time,” Zakeri, 44, lamented, reflecting on how she tucked her daughter into bed, unaware of the tragedy that awaited.
