In a shocking overnight theft on August 15, four significant artworks by the renowned Renaissance artist Antonello da Messina were stolen from the Museo Regionale in Messina, Sicily.

The stolen pieces include three panels from the Polittico di San Gregorio, marking a substantial loss for the city as these are among the last remaining works by the artist in his native area.

Authorities in Italy have promptly initiated an investigation to recover the stolen treasures and preserve the cultural heritage of Messina.
