Imprisoned Mathematician Azat Miftakhov Publishes Paper on Chui's Conjecture

Azat Miftakhov, a Russian political prisoner, has made headlines with his latest publication in the French journal Revue de la filière mathématique, titled “La conjecture de Chui dans un cadre hilbertien” (“Chui’s Conjecture in a Hilbert Space”).

Despite being incarcerated since February 2019, Miftakhov managed to solve this complex mathematical problem while detained in Dimitrovgrad. His supporters highlighted the role of French mathematician Bernard Randé in facilitating the paper's publication.

This marks Miftakhov's third international publication since his arrest, as he continues to contribute to mathematics from behind bars, where he is currently held at the “Polar Owl” penal colony in Kharp.
