Jaguar's Type 01 Preview: A Bold New Interior Design

By Editor • August 13, 2026 • 2 min read

As anticipation builds for Jaguar's Type 01, the company has provided a tantalizing glimpse of the vehicle's interior ahead of its full reveal on October 6th, 2026, in New York. While the exterior remains cloaked in camouflage, the cabin showcases an innovative design that promises to redefine luxury in the automotive world.

Jaguar's chief interior designer, Thomas Holden, describes the interior as 'an architectural statement' that divides the four-seat layout into distinct zones through a prominent central spine. This feature not only enhances the car's aesthetic appeal but also transforms how passengers interact with one another, providing each occupant with their own defined space.

The Type 01's design departs from the traditional horizontal dashboard layout, creating a unique sense of scale with its focus on a longitudinal architecture. The broad spine extends from the dashboard to the rear, reinforcing a cocoon-like atmosphere that envelops passengers. From a bird's-eye view, the cabin appears as a series of paired spaces, emphasizing individuality within the shared environment.

In line with the concept's high-end materials, the Type 01 will feature a tonal palette inspired by travertine stone, complemented by brass-like finishes along the central spine and door tops. These design elements not only enhance visual warmth but also connect the cabin's aesthetics to the vehicle's exterior, ensuring a seamless design language throughout.

Technologically, Jaguar has opted for a minimalist approach within the cabin, strategically placing digital interfaces where needed while leaving ample open space along the dashboard. A digital ClearSight rear-view display aligns with the door mirrors, while a touch display is neatly integrated into the center console, prioritizing the central spine's visual dominance.

With the Type 01 marking a significant milestone as the first Jaguar built on the dedicated Jaguar Electric Architecture (JEA) and boasting a tri-motor powertrain, the excitement surrounding its release is palpable. As Jaguar prepares to unveil the final design, the interior stands out as a clear representation of the brand's evolving vision for luxury and space.
