In a strategic move, the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) party, along with the Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Ayin-i-Pakistan (TTAP), convened on Friday to lay the groundwork for a unified opposition platform in parliament. This decision comes as the opposition seeks to address pressing national issues more effectively.
Fazlur Rehman, the JUI-F chief, voiced his apprehensions about the escalating law and order situation, asserting that two provinces are currently experiencing conditions akin to warfare. He criticized the government’s failure to guarantee safety and security for citizens, highlighting the adverse effects on tribal traders due to the closure of Pakistan's western border.
The meeting saw the participation of notable figures, including Mehmood Khan Achakzai, the National Assembly Opposition Leader, and other key opposition leaders. Rehman remarked, "The lives of citizens have become miserable, and everyone feels insecure," emphasizing a lack of progress despite previous concerns raised by the opposition.
Further addressing the political climate, he stated that the opposition would take its message directly to the public. Achakzai echoed this sentiment, cautioning against potential attempts to monopolize the nation's resources. Asad Qaiser and Salman Akram Raja also criticized the government's handling of recent controversies surrounding the treatment of PTI founder Imran Khan.
