Ken Russell's provocative film, "The Devils," is set to make waves at the New York Film Festival (NYFF) following its premieres at Cannes and the Toronto International Film Festival. The film joins the Revivals section of this year's festival, which showcases restored cinematic treasures.

NYFF, now in its 64th year, aims to honor films that have been meticulously restored, ensuring that significant pieces of film history reach new audiences. The festival's Revivals section will feature 12 films and two programs of rare shorts, celebrating both well-known classics and hidden gems.

Among the notable entries is Michael Powell and Emeric Pressburger’s 1950 film, "Gone to Earth," which has been re-edited and restored under the guidance of Martin Scorsese. This year’s lineup also includes world premieres of several other restored works, such as Allen Fong’s "Just Like Weather" and Barbara Hammer’s "Nitrate Kisses." Additionally, the festival will present a nearly complete retrospective of Armenian filmmaker Artavazd Pelechian, whose unique montage style and poetic narratives have garnered admiration yet remain rarely screened in the U.S.

The NYFF is scheduled to run from September 25 to October 12, bringing an array of cinematic experiences to film enthusiasts. The Revivals section, curated by a skilled team including Florence Almozini and Dennis Lim, promises to deliver a rich blend of restoration masterpieces, ensuring that these influential films resonate with today's audiences.
