Lando Norris’s LEGO Helmet: A Commemorative Tribute to McLaren’s Legacy

By Editor • August 23, 2026 • 1 min read

In celebration of McLaren's milestone of 1,000 Grands Prix, a unique collaboration with LEGO has resulted in a striking commemorative helmet designed for driver Lando Norris. This intricate 793-piece set showcases Norris's signature yellow and black design on a vibrant papaya orange helmet shell, merging McLaren's rich history with Norris's personal branding.

What sets this project apart is the direct involvement of Norris in the design process. Unlike typical licensed merchandise, Norris collaborated closely with LEGO’s design team to create both his helmet and a companion piece for teammate Oscar Piastri. Notably, the actual helmets worn by the drivers during the Monaco GP were inspired by these LEGO designs, marking a rare achievement in the toy industry.

LEGO’s Creative Lead for F1, Daniel Meehan, expressed pride in the innovative design techniques employed to craft the helmet’s organic curves. The finished product features meticulous details, including printed sponsor logos that mirror those on real helmets. The back of the helmet carries significant emotional weight, with bold prints celebrating the 1,000 GP milestone and a tribute to team founder Bruce McLaren, established in 1963.

Among the charming details is a tiny printed minifigure head cleverly hidden within the helmet’s yellow panel, a whimsical signature of LEGO’s craftsmanship. The set is presented on a black display stand and includes a minifigure of Norris in his team gear, marking his debut as a LEGO character. Compounded by its integration with the LEGO Builder app for an enhanced building experience, the Lando Norris McLaren Mastercard F1 Team Helmet (set 43023) is now available for $89.99, also featuring a matching set for Piastri.
