Lee Chang-dong's 'Possible Love' Explores Hidden Desires in Marriage

Renowned South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-dong is set to unveil his latest work, "Possible Love," a poignant exploration of the complexities of marital relationships. This film, his first in eight years, promises to resonate deeply with audiences, as it delves into the concealed yearnings of couples intertwined through the lens of documentary filmmaking.

Inspired by Krzysztof Kieślowski’s "Dekalog," "Possible Love" features a stellar cast, including Jeon Do-yeon, Sul Kyung-gu, Zo In-sung, and Cho Yeo-jeong. The narrative centers on a laid-off worker and his wife who become entangled with a documentary filmmaker and her partner, leading to a confrontation of their hidden desires.

Set to premiere at the 2026 Venice International Film Festival, where it will vie for the prestigious Golden Lion, the film will subsequently be showcased at the Toronto International Film Festival. Netflix will release it in select theaters on October 23, followed by a streaming debut on November 6. Additionally, it has been chosen as South Korea's official submission for the Best International Feature at the 99th Academy Awards.
