Liverpool has finalized a staggering deal that could reach £123 million for Paris St-Germain's forward, Bradley Barcola. Initially valued at £145 million by PSG, the agreement includes an upfront payment of £106 million, complemented by potential add-ons amounting to £17 million.
The 23-year-old winger is set to undergo a medical examination this weekend, paving the way for him to sign a long-term contract at Anfield. Barcola, who prefers the left flank, raises questions about the future of Cody Gakpo, with both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City reportedly interested in the Netherlands international.
Having moved to PSG from Lyon in 2023 for £38.5 million, Barcola has enjoyed a successful stint in which he secured three Ligue 1 titles and two Champions League trophies. Following his performance in the recent World Cup, where he netted three goals for France, he is anticipated to bolster Liverpool's attack, particularly after the departures of Luis Diaz and Mohamed Salah.
Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola expressed optimism about retaining Gakpo but acknowledged uncertainty regarding his future. The club's pursuit of Barcola aligns with their strategy to enhance their squad after missing out on Yan Diomande, who chose Real Madrid earlier in the transfer window.
