A new documentary series titled How to Change the World is set to debut on YouTube on September 10, shining a light on social entrepreneurs dedicated to addressing significant global challenges. Produced by World Within Studios and Religion of Sports, the series is executive produced by Mark Cuban, along with Geralyn Dreyfous and Gotham Chopra.
This 10-episode series chronicles the journeys of various founders, from a local beverage startup to a Lakota-led green energy initiative. Each narrative emphasizes community impact as the true measure of success, contrasting the typical entrepreneurship narrative focused solely on profit.
The series boasts insights from notable figures such as Cuban, former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz, and Acumen founder Jacqueline Novogratz. It also features contributions from climber Alex Honnold and author Brandon Stanton, among others.
World Within's CEO, Rostam Zafari, emphasizes a shift in the entrepreneurial narrative, stating that the series highlights founders whose success is defined by their contributions to their communities rather than personal gain. Co-founder Dylan Mulick adds that the series blends investigative journalism with a cinematic style to present dynamic stories of individuals tackling monumental challenges.
Victor Buhler from Religion of Sports notes that this series is a departure from traditional storytelling in entrepreneurship, showcasing those who create sustainable solutions amid significant obstacles. Cuban himself expressed enthusiasm for the project, praising the creators for their commitment to genuine, impactful entrepreneurship.
