Marvel Studios is gearing up for a major expansion of its X-Men universe, with President Kevin Feige announcing an exciting new cast at the D23 Entertainment Showcase on August 24. The highly anticipated film is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
Leading the new ensemble is Sadie Sink, who will portray the iconic mutant Jean Grey, a role she introduced in the summer blockbuster "Spider-Man: Brand New Day." Joining her are Kit Connor as Cyclops and Samara Weaving as Emma Frost. Notably, Christopher Abbott, fresh off his performance in "The Testament of Ann Lee," has been cast as Professor Charles Xavier, while Inde Navarette takes on the role of Rogue. Newcomer Maya Boyd will play Storm, and two-time Oscar nominee Adam Driver is set to play the villain Mr. Sinister.
This casting marks a significant moment in Marvel's ongoing integration of the X-Men into its cinematic universe, a process that has been in the making since the Disney-Fox merger nearly a decade ago. The transition raises questions about how existing characters from Fox’s previous X-Men films will be phased out, with actors like Patrick Stewart and James Marsden still involved in upcoming releases.
