Massive Beef Recall Affects Florida and Texas Amid Safety Concerns

In a troubling reminder of ongoing food safety issues, nearly 30,000 pounds of beef imported from Argentina have been recalled. The affected products, distributed in Florida and Texas, were sold in May and may still be in consumers' freezers, with sell-by dates extending to September 20, 2026.
Corte Argentino, the importing company, announced the recall on August 7 due to insufficient inspections of the meat. Although no illnesses have been reported, the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) classified the situation as a Class I recall, indicating a serious potential health risk.
The recall involves various raw beef cuts, including boneless top sirloin butt and eye round, packaged in cardboard boxes. This latest incident follows other recent recalls, including over 3,000 pounds of ready-to-eat pastrami and corned beef by City Foods, Inc., due to listeria concerns. Additionally, a health alert was issued for meats made with potentially contaminated jalapeños.
In a related note, the Shanghai Ravioli Corporation also announced a recall of nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen buffalo chicken items due to similar inspection failures. FSIS advises consumers to discard any recalled products to avoid health risks.
