During a state visit to Uzbekistan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a yoga session organized by the Yoga Federation of Uzbekistan at the Hilton Tashkent City hotel. This event, held on August 30, 2026, highlighted yoga's growing popularity in Uzbekistan, as noted by the Ministry of External Affairs on X.

Modi’s visit, which marks his fourth trip to the country, began with a warm welcome from President Shavkat Mirziyoyev. In addition to the yoga session, Modi visited Yangi Uzbekistan Park and laid a wreath at the Independence Monument. He engaged with the Indian community at a hotel, enjoying cultural performances including Kathak, Andijan Polka, and a fusion performance featuring the tabla and traditional Uzbek instruments.

The Prime Minister's agenda includes discussions with Mirziyoyev aimed at bolstering the strategic partnership between India and Uzbekistan. Topics of cooperation will cover trade, defense, digital connectivity, energy, and education. Modi's visit is the first leg of a larger trip that will also take him to Kyrgyzstan for the 26th Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit.
