In a significant legal development, Taiwanese authorities have indicted nine individuals, including employees from Nvidia and Supermicro, over the unlawful export of artificial intelligence servers to China.

Prosecutors in Keelung announced that eight of those charged, comprising one Nvidia Taiwan employee and two from Supermicro Taiwan, face accusations of breach of trust and document forgery. The illegal shipments included 50 servers routed through Indonesia, eight via Japan, and the remainder sent directly to China. An additional 56 servers were seized at Taiwan's border.

Nvidia expressed its commitment to compliance and cooperation with local authorities, while Supermicro highlighted its collaboration, stating it is not a target of the ongoing investigation. Prosecutors are pursuing sentences of up to five years for seven defendants, identifying profit motives as the driving force behind the illegal activities. They seek leniency for two defendants who have cooperated with the inquiry.
