Owner Reflects Before Greenlighting Season 2 of ‘Heated Rivalry’

Michael Kutryk, the caretaker of the iconic cottage featured in the hit series ‘Heated Rivalry,’ took time to reflect before giving the green light for the show's second season. In a recent interview with HGTV, he disclosed that when approached about filming, he hesitated, engaging in what he described as 'soul searching.'

Knowing the production team needed the location, Kutryk initially considered how he could capitalize on the opportunity. However, he ultimately chose a more generous approach. After expressing concerns about a scratch on his table, he proposed a reasonable fee, much to the team's surprise and gratitude.

The cottage has become a central setting in the queer hockey romance, marking pivotal moments in the relationship between characters Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov. Following the success of the first season, which premiered in December 2025, Kutryk began receiving rental inquiries from Airbnb, and he decided to open his doors starting this spring.

As for future rentals, Kutryk remains cautious, stating: 'I’m a private guy… This is my retreat.' He is also aware of the local wildlife, including a buck and turtle nests on the property. ‘Heated Rivalry’ season two is expected to premiere in spring 2027 on Crave and HBO Max.
