Recycled Paper Composite Shapes FRAGMENT’s Geological Forms
Lithuanian designer Donatas Žukauskas has unveiled FRAGMENT, a collection of sculptural vessels that merges architecture, geology, and design. This series reimagines the traditional vase through fractured geometries and asymmetrical silhouettes, creating objects reminiscent of volcanic rock and weathered concrete.
Each vessel is handcrafted from a proprietary composite of recycled paper pulp, natural cement, mineral pigments, and binders. The lightweight material mimics stone while exhibiting properties akin to aged wood. The collection includes four vessels in two color variations: FRAGMENT Ochre I & II and FRAGMENT Terracotta I & II, each maintaining a unique architectural language.
The production method intentionally retains imperfections such as small cracks and surface irregularities, which contribute to the overall character of the vessels. By combining recycled materials with artisanal techniques, FRAGMENT blurs the lines between functional objects and sculptural forms, suitable for modern interiors.
