Revitalized Regency Square: A Stunning Stay in Brighton's Historic Townhouse

By Editor • August 20, 2026 • 2 min read

Brighton’s Regency Square stands as a striking example of grand architecture that has aged with a certain charm, yet it remains surprisingly unpolished. While many cities would have seen such historic buildings transformed by gentrification, Brighton has retained its bohemian essence, leaving the white stucco and yellow-brick homes to weather gracefully in the coastal air.

Amidst this historical backdrop, the Sigma Plus Regency Square Suites have emerged, breathing new life into a townhouse on the square’s northern edge. The hospitality group S Holiday Homes has meticulously restored the property, blending contemporary design with classic Regency elements. The ten self-contained suites feature modern interiors, yet maintain the architectural elegance of wrought-iron balconies and large bow windows.

I had the pleasure of staying in Suite 3, where local designer Melanie Barnes showcased her talent. The apartment boasts high ceilings with restored cornicing, pale oak herringbone flooring, and a soothing color palette that complements the stunning views of the square and the English Channel. Though compact, the bedroom is comfortably appointed with adequate storage, and the bathroom features a spacious shower stocked with White Company products.

While the suites are not a hotel, Sigma Plus offers convenient food delivery from Antipasto By The Sea, allowing guests to indulge in a delightful brunch without leaving the comfort of their chic surroundings. After a satisfying breakfast, my friends and I ventured out to explore Brighton, with the pebble beach and the iconic i360 Observation Tower just a short stroll away.

Our time in Brighton was complemented by a series of culinary adventures, from sharing Mediterranean dishes at Burnt Orange to trying out the new Crazy Goose brasserie. The vibrant atmosphere was palpable, especially during the FIFA World Cup, where we seamlessly transitioned from beachside festivities to cozying up in our apartment to catch the match.
