Ringg Secures $10 Million in Funding to Transform Voice AI Landscape in India

In a significant boost for the voice AI sector, Indian startup Ringg has successfully secured $10 million in funding from Peak XV Partners, expanding its Series A round to a total of $15.5 million. This comes amid a growing demand for voice communication, with over 76% of Indian consumers preferring to talk to businesses via phone, according to a study by Truecaller.
Originally launched as DesiVocal, a text-to-speech platform, Ringg pivoted to developing voice AI agents for enterprises due to the high costs associated with training speech models. The company has rapidly gained traction, processing an impressive 20 million call attempts monthly. Its first client was the fintech firm Cred, and it now boasts a portfolio that includes major players like Flipkart, Practo, Groww, and PolicyBazaar.
Siddharth Tripathi, co-founder of Ringg, noted that while the company initially focused on straightforward tasks such as outbound calling and loan collections, it has shifted towards more complex applications like healthcare appointment bookings and e-commerce cart recovery. Currently, Ringg’s voice agents are operational in 1,200 clinics through the healthcare app Practo.
Despite voice calls still constituting over 70% of its operations, Ringg is diversifying by exploring other communication channels, including chat and WhatsApp. The startup aims to establish itself as a comprehensive platform that integrates various automation solutions alongside traditional human support.
With a focus predominantly on the Indian market, Ringg is also eyeing partnerships with Global Capability Centers—offshore hubs utilized by multinational corporations for back-office functions. Rather than targeting direct sales to U.S. companies, the startup seeks to enhance its automation capabilities in collaboration with these centers.
Rishen Kapoor from Peak XV emphasized Ringg’s technical depth, which stems from its origins as a research lab. This expertise enables the startup to effectively handle intricate enterprise workflows and deliver consistent results.
