London's Templeton Ford has made a notable entry into the Wallpaper* Architects’ Directory 2026, recognized for their unique architectural approach. Founded in 2025 by André and Jessica Templeton Ford, the studio focuses on creating homes and structures deeply intertwined with their surroundings, culture, and history.

Their latest project, Clay Rise, exemplifies this philosophy. Completed in 2024, this three-bedroom residence in West Sussex features a striking curved roof and traditional Sussex brick, merging heritage with modern design. Built using a prefabricated timber frame, the home is cleverly integrated into the landscape, showcasing a split-level arrangement that enhances its dramatic silhouette.

Designed with sustainability in mind, Clay Rise optimizes solar gain while providing effective cross-ventilation through strategically placed openings. A central stair atrium functions as a thermal chimney, ensuring year-round comfort, while an air-source heat pump supports efficient heating and hot water. The architects strive for buildings that reveal their charm over time, aiming for an architecture that feels at home in its environment.
