Terra Industries Secures $52M to Enhance Defense Tech in Africa

By Editor • August 17, 2026 • 1 min read

African defense technology firm Terra Industries has successfully closed a $52 million seed funding round, with $18 million contributed recently. Investors include notable firms like 8VC, Silent Ventures, and Nova Global.

Founded in 2024, Terra is rapidly becoming a key player in the defense sector, aiming to develop autonomous systems and critical infrastructure such as drones and mine detection vehicles. The company is on track to secure $100 million in contracts by year-end, including a federal deal.

Facing competition from established defense contractors, particularly from Turkey and China, Terra aspires to streamline Africa's fragmented defense supply chains. The new funding will aid in expanding manufacturing capabilities across the Global South, establishing offices in London and San Francisco, and enhancing product deployment.
